Summary of CMBO's "Woodcock Dance" Program, and volunteers needed for upcoming Woodcock surveys

CMBO's Woodcock Dance program was held this evening. Karen Johnson, pictured above, gave a wonderful presentation on woodcock life history at CMBO's Center for Research & Education in Goshen, and then the group re-assembled at Kimble's Beach Road to experience the display for themselves. Even though it was rather chilly and windy this evening, we still managed to detect 8 American Woodcock displaying along Kimble's Beach Road.

Heidi Hanlon, a biologist at the Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, also joined us this evening and announced that the Refuge will again be conducting woodcock surveys on its properties this year. Surveys will take place on Friday, March 14th and Tuesday, March 18th. If you'd like to participate, contact Cape May NWR at 609-463-0994.
