A walk in the woods this morning

Now that I have filled you in on the April Big Day (see below) I figured that I'd post the sightings from the quick mornings walk in the woods. Since there was a nice SW wind last night we finally had a decent showing of neo-tropical migrants. First of the year (for me at least) Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green and Nashville Warblers to name a few. Also Baltimore and Orchard Orioles were in evidence.

The rest of the WSB team (the Steiner/CMBO Northwood Nightjars) are in town this weekend for some scouting, can't wait to hear what finds they found today! Who knows what we might find over the next few days. Depending on the teams findings, it might be prudent to bird Hidden Valley in the morning to see if any of the Orchard Orioles or the Blue Grosbeak have started to settle in to their territories. Sometimes it's just to difficult to decide where to bird in the few hours before work. Sea watching might be a good bet as well, with Laura and I spotting the first Common Tern of the season on Wednesday, my mind jumps to the fact that Black or Roseate Terns should not be too far behind.

Well, one thing is for sure we will be up birding and there will be birds to see. Now, my question to you; where will you be birding in the morning?
