Shorebirds at the Meadows, and northwest winds

Karl Lukens, along with Chuck and Mary Jane Slugg, submitted the following summary from last night's walk at the Meadows:

"Beautiful evening for a CMBO bird walk at the "Meadows". Good shorebirds, and waders. The Lesser Black-backed Gulls are still present on the beach."

In other news, it looks like the "prolonged" heat that the weather folks were talking about several days ago won't be as bad as expected. A front is expected to clear the Cape tonight, bringing with it winds out of the north and west for the next couple of days. As a result I would expect a fair songbird flight Sunday night into Monday morning, and possibly tonight as well, if there's no rain. Early migrants such as Canada Warbler and Cerulean Warbler have already been reported in the past couple of days, and there will likely be more to come in the near future.
