Today strong South winds kept all but one species at bay at the hawkwatch. Peregrines were abundant slicing and dicing along the tree line today in the winds. Only in Cape May can you have more Peregrines than Sharp-shinned Hawks for the count. An American Bittern also made a very short apearance at the North end of the pond. Weather predictions for Sunday have gone from good to so so. Winds should be from the W which will bring birds to the coast but the Northern component that we all had hope for seems to have dissolved. Time will tell.
