----------------

A healthy number of both participants and leaders turned out for this evening's Nightfall at Jake's Landing program. This walk will meet just one more time, at 6:00pm on March 16th. Highlights included 4-5 Short-eared Owls, a feeding Bald Eagle, great looks at a cooperative Eastern Meadowlark, a showy Red-breasted Merganser and a host of other typical Jake's birds. The program ended with a highly successful dusk vigil for displaying American Woodcock- highlighted by at least 2 displaying males which were audible AND visible as they performed their sky dance and chased each other around until it got too dark to see (my apologies to the folks who braved the cold and wind at Kimble's Beach Road last night!).
