Update on Kites, Black-necked Stilt

The Swallow-tailed Kite was seen off and on from Stevens Street for the better part of 45 minutes, last seen drifting away toward the north at 12:20pm. The Mississippi Kite was not relocated again, despite a lot of searching. The Painted Bunting has also not been reported since the morning.

The Black-necked Stilt continues at the Meadows plover pond as of 1:30pm, last seen in the very back left corner of the pond. If you can't find the bird at first, be patient, as the bird often disappears behind a nook or cranny for extended periods of time. Also in the plover pond was a single Red-breasted Merganser.

Gail Dwyer informed me that there was a White-crowned Sparrow in her Avalon backyard this morning, and that a Red-headed Woodpecker was sitting atop a fence between 49th and 50th Streets (in Avalon).
