[Sooty Grouse, Olympic National Park, Washington this morning. This is the darker of the two species named when Blue Grouse was split by the AOU in 2006. Cape May naturalist extraordinaire Mark Garland and I are leading a group on the Olympic Peninsula at present, one of NJ Audubon's eco-tours . Our thanks go to Mike Crewe for keeping us very informed, and jealous, of the good stuff in Cape May at the moment. Mark and I are next planning a June 2011 Alaskan adventure for NJ Audubon; a link to the details will appear here when they're complete.]
