This is the Cape May Birding Hotline, a service of New Jersey Audubon Society's Cape May Bird Observatory. This week's message was prepared on Thursday, October 7, 2010. Highlights this week include sightings of EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE, POMARINE JAEGER, AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN, CANADA WARBLER, LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, SORA

A briefly glimpsed EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE flew from Lake Lily to the Pavilion Circle Gardens on Tuesday October 5th, 2010. It has not been seen since.

An adult POMARINE JAEGER was seen in the Cape May “rips” on Thursday September 30, 2010.

Two AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were seen from Coral Avenue on Sunday, October 3rd, 2010.

A slightly a-seasonal CANADA WARBLER was detected at Higbee Beach WMA on Tuesday, October 5th, 2010.

LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULLS have been noted throughout the point, with an adult on the beach in front of the South Cape May Migratory Bird Refuge (Meadows) on Monday, October 4th, 2010, and two adults seen at Cape May Point State Park on Wednesday, October 6th, 2010.

SORA have been noted throughout the area: four were heard on the east path of the Meadows on Monday, October 4th, 2010, and one was seen on Lighthouse Pond east (with the platform) on Tuesday, October 5th, 2010.
