Sam Galick and I counted at least 21 American Woodcock along roadsides in Cape May Point this evening, including 12 on the north side of Sunset Boulevard. The snow cover and frozen ground is taking its toll on the little guys, and many of the birds we came across appeared pretty lethargic and weak. However, that didn't apply to all, as evidenced in the following footage I took along Lehigh Avenue (click on the outward facing arrows in the bottom right corner to view full-screen):
