We've twisted Scott Whittle's arm and just finalized plans for a series of relaxed photography walks - with the first one tomorrow! We don't have them up on our web calendar yet, but here's the skinny:
PHOTO WALKS WITH SCOTT WHITTLE
Tuesdays, April 6, 13;
May 18, 25;
June 1, 8, 15, 22, 29
8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Bring your camera and gear for a relaxed photo and learning expedition
around Cape May point. Scott's a professional photographer and
instructor for our popular bird photography workshops. Meet at Cape May Point State Park in front of the hawk watch platform. No preregistration necessary.
Cost: $6 members, $10 nonmembers
A midday walk at Beaver Swamp yielded about 10 Blue Corporal dragonflies, as well as a Spotted Turtle crossing the road and Carpenter Frogs adding their voices to the growing amphibian chorus - think of a bunch of guys framing out a house, and that's the sound.
[Female Blue Corporal - the species derives its name from the "shoulder" stripes on the thorax. This is the earliest dragonfly of spring. I'm looking forward to more, with the great new Field Guide to Dragonflies and Damselflies of New Jersey now available - including at CMBO centers. Click to enlarge.]
